Padlock lock picking using paper clips
Step 1 : Bend one of the paper clips in a way it can be stuck in the lock.
Step 2 : Unfold the other one and make a small hook at the end of it.
Step 3 : Insert the first one into the top of the lock and push it to turn the cylinder in the unlocking direction.
Step 4 : Rake the pins with the second one.
Everything happens at the pins level. These are small metal tubes that lock the main cylinder. When the right key is inserted into a lock, they align and let it rotate.
Here I’m using lockpicks, but it works the same as a paper clip. You can use a specialised tool, a paperclip, hairpin, or whatever you’d like.
If you want to buy picks like mine, here are a few links :

/!\ I’ll add some more in a few minutes 😉
So, if you want to try, know that it will probably not work the first time. You have to find the right pressure to apply and get used to. For certain padlocks, it is easier if you press the shackle lightly at the same time.
This raking technique works for ‘standard’ padlocks. No need to try on barrels with additional safety systems, there are other techniques for this. For example, setting each pin individually.
I wanted to make a short video. But if you’re interested, I’m planing to do another one with other techniques, more details, and where I’ll explain why it’s working. So if you are interested, you can subscribe and maybe have a look at the other articles on this website 😉
